I was first introduced to theatre in high school. I did tech for a couple of shows, but I didn't really get into it until I started college. There is where I really found my family. Our theatre was entirely student run, save a Technical Director, and we didn't have too many classes in specific aspects of theatre. The 4 years I spent there I learned everything I know either by teaching it to myself, learning it from other students, or seeking out professionals.
