The ability to clearly articulate your creative preferences is an important characteristic of a front end developer. This question puts people on the spot: generally developers would need 20–30 minutes to look at the page and underlying implementation, so before the interview we tend to tell the person we will be asking this. It can also work very well as a case study for a front end developer.
