Assess reason(s) why resident is declining therapy, i.e. depression, confusion, pain

• Identify possible interventions to facilitate participation

• Explain insurance benefits and skilled stay requirements

• Involve family if appropriate

• Consider writing a care plan for "refusal of care"

• Communicate with staff at PPS or stand-up meeting
